Notes: This story was originally written for xterm, in the (anomymous) Christmas exchange snupin_santa, with the prompt:

The night before marrying Tonks, Lupin feels that he has been manipulated into the situation and decides that it's time he made a decision for himself. (which, of course, is Snape...)

With such a dramatic prompt, it took a while for the narrative and back-story of this fic to gestate; I hope the web that I have spun pleases. Bonus points for anyone who spots all of the fairy-tale references!
